back in the day when i was a teenage dub--i cant recall any governing body. The head bloke was Nathan Knorr--and that was the only name i heard of. In the UK at that time the branch servant was Wilf Gooch ( who i did like listening to at assemblies ).

I have read and re read acts chap.15 and for the life of me I can't find the part about the 1st century governing body!
by nowwhat? ini cannot find the verse where it talks about several self appointed men that went behind closed doors to render their decision regarding circumcision.
all i see is that it was the apostles, older men and the congregation that came to a decision.
perfect example of why we need the governing body today.

How many TRUE BELIEVERS do you think are left in the Organization?
by pistolpete ini have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.

What Will You Be Doing On New Year’s Eve?
by minimus ini can’t remember the last time i stayed in on new year’s eve.
every year we went out and made this date a real party.
it was a celebration that included a night out, a stay in a hotel , eating, drinking and dancing to live music!.

Covid19 deaths in the Jehovah's Witnesses
by yalbmert99 inin a video on the jworg website, governing body stephen lett says that as of december 20, 2020, 7,500 jws have died from covid-19.
strangely enough, the cult never mentions the number of jws who die from refusal of blood transfusions each year… hypocrite..

7,500 JWs have died from Covid-19.
I would like to see how they calculating that number. ?
Could be made up BS by someone to make a confirmation that the end times plague is here.
Yes brothers and siste
could be an average based on several countries covid death rates. if there are 7.5 million dubs then 7500 deaths is 0.1% ( 1 in a 1000)...which is about the ratio in the UK.

Smokin' Phizzy !
by Phizzy inas a jw teenager in the 60's i took up smoking.
i gave up in my early 20's when my new wife and i decided , mistakenly, that it was a good idea to " make a proper go of da troof".
in all the intervening decades i still enjoyed the smell of a fine cigar.. when i left and became free, i took up smoking again, always fine cigars, and ended up hooked, and smoking ten or more a day.

i smoked as a young teenager at school -- one of my mates used to help himself from his father's endless supply ( a Birmingham city councillor..nuff said ), and hand them out. i gave up when i started work -at 15--as i couldnt afford to buy them.
when i started seeing my 2nd wife-to-be, she smoked--and it started me off. i was 35, and smoked till i was 48. a week in intensive care with a heart attack at 48 persuaded me of the error of my ways. my wife still carried on till she died 11 years later. ( it wasnt the cause of her death ).
i think people who smoke these e-fags look ridiculous--blowing out clouds of smoke. but it does serve as a reminder to keep well away from them.
